Dear SING members and Friends,

Our vision is a world where women are free to make choices for their socio-economic empowerment and that includes where all women live without fear of domestic violence and being attacked by strangers and harassed by male colleagues. Additionally, a world where women are protected against rape in situations of conflict; girls can be girls and are not forced into a union – early marriages; and displaced vulnerable women and girls can focus on building strength and resilience.


SHEROES Foundation, an NGO in Accra, Ghana provided about 40 young girls, teen mothers and women within the Martey Tsuru community with vocational training and entrepreneurial skills to empower them economically.


The level of poverty among young girls and women especially those living in deprived communities, is so high that many of them have to make extremely challenging choices in their lives. In such communities young girls are unskilled and therefore find it difficult to earn a living.


From August 6-9, 2019 more than 200 passionate youth from around the Niger-Delta States gathered for the 3rd annual Pearls Growth Club Holiday Skills Acquisition Camp in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria. For Four days, these young ladies learnt from influential speakers and engaged in skill-based workshops.


With excitement and zest the SHEROES International Networking Group (S.I.N.G.) Ghana Chapter organized a Networking Mixer, which took place on Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at the beautiful Tang Palace in Accra. The featured guest speaker was the Prolific Speaker Extraordinaire Dayo Benjamins-Laniyi. With the benefit of Dayo's knowledge and passion, we reflected on: 'Seeking Your Purpose: Realistic Tools For Defining Who You Are?'


As part of the activities for the International SHEROES Forum Accra 2019, the Founder and Executive Director of the SHEROES Foundation, Ms. Flossy Menson visited the African Science Academy accompanied by H.E. Dr. Ameenah Gurib-Fakim, Former President of Mauritius.


The Founder and Executive Director of the SHEROES Foundation, Ms. Flossy Menson; Co-founder, Ms. Maxine Menson and the COO Mr. Christian Adusu Donkor donated goodies-packed foods, snacks, water and various drinks at Christmas to a 1,000 children in a public school in their community. The children were very excited and grateful for the gesture.


SHEROES IN POLITICS… is an initiative of the SHEROES Foundation aimed at projecting women from different regions in Africa who aspire to be elected into political offices such us the Presidency, Member of Parliament, Local Government Representative, Assembly Woman, etc.


As Ghana’s Election draws close, we will endeavor to update you on the SHEROES who are running for Parliamentary elections in the upcoming election. We encourage you to engage and support them to victory. In 2016, let the electoral agenda be gender equity.
